Winners of various events in Grafest felicitated

Results of various competitions held during Grafest 2019 were announced n 8 May.  The winners were presented the certificates, trophies and cash awards at Graphic Era Deemed University Around 400 Students from Graphic Era Deemed University, Dehradun and Bhimtal campuses of Graphic Era Hill University and several prominent schools and colleges in the city had participated in various technical, managerial and cultural competitions held during the three days gala event in Graphic Era last week. Today, Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University, Prof.  Rakesh Kumar Sharma gave away the cash prizes and certificates to the winners.

In different competitions following students were given away the prizes:

  • Brain Wave competition held under Technical Competition Category Areesh Qureshi was awarded the first prize. The second and third awards in this competition were respectively given to Kushagra Singh and Siddhant.
  • In Robo Soccer, Ankita Negi and Ekant Arora were jointly awarded the first prize. Atul Dabral and Rohit Singh won second position.
  • In Robo race, Vivek Singh Danu and Yogesh Sharma stood first, while the second position was bagged by the team of Vaibhav Kumar and Sangeet Singh.
  • In Cross the Wire and Bacteria Arts Competitions, first prize was respectively awarded to Anand Sadan and Shaily Khati.
  • In Best Corporate Walk for Men category, first prize was given to Mayank Negi and Mohd. Muskan Semwal won the first prize for Best Corporate event for Girls Category, Rashmi Adhikari and Kunal Sahani were respectively given Ms Corporate and Mr Corporate awards
  • In Solo Dance Rahul Pimoli was declared the winner, Kaustubh and Ujjwal won first prize in duet dance competition. Pooja Saini won the first prize in solo singing.
  • In Nukkad Natak  Moonlight group won the first prize
  • In group dance category. Panjabi Virsa bagged the  first position Abhishek Tiwari stood first.
  •  In open mic competition  Yuvraj Singh and Shubham Bhatt respectively  got  second and third position .

On this occasion Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr. H N Nagraja, Prof Raj Dhar , faculty members large number of  students remained were present.

          

 

Graphic Era sets a new record in blood donation

The students and teachers of Graphic Era Hill University and Graphic Era Deemed University donated 1007 units of blood to be used by the needy. In a mega Blood donation camp organized at the University campus.  In this session a total of 4053 units of blood have been donated in Graphic Era. Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Nitesh Kumar Jha, Secretary Health and Family of Uttarakhand, who inaugurated the camp  said that, out of the total blood received from volunteers in the state nearly 10% is contributed from Graphic Era alone.  Elaborating on the need for blood in the state Mr Jha said that blood donation is  a noble step towards protecting valuable lives  and can be done without losing anything in the process. He motivated the students, faculty members and staff members at all the five blood donation camps held at Graphic Era Hill University and Graphic Era Deemed University to donate blood. He also presented to a flower to each donor.

During the blood donation camp, Prof. Kamal Ghanshala, President Graphic Era Group said that along with understanding of educational concepts the students at both the Universities are also made aware of their social responsibilities. He further said that the record breaking scores of donated blood units from the past 8 years is an example of the same.

The IMA Blood bank received 257 units of blood , Doon Hospital  101 units, Himalayan Hospital Jolly Grant  262, Mahant Indresh Hospital  312 and AIIMS Rishikesh with 75 units at the camp . Prior to this the record for donating maximum blood units is in the name of Graphic Era only.  The enthusiasm of the students was clearly visible from the long queues that waited patiently for their turn at the blood donation stalls despite the blistering sun. The camp also saw a large number of girls participating in the blood donation camp. The excited students had reached the camps much before the camp had formally started and were ready for their turn with necessary test results in hand. Only those students were allowed to donate who had the required hemoglobin, weight measure and blood count. Nearly 700 students, staff and faculty members were  found unfit to donate blood on the these grounds. All these were further given medical consultation from experts regarding right food habits and diet to be fit and healthy. The camp also saw first time donors , donating blood , they are , Paritosh Saxena, 1st year student of Hotel Management, Ankit Rawat BBA 1st year, Prashant Upadhayay and Varun Tuteja, Ria Phuleria of BA (Hons.) Economics, Mahima Deopa of BSc 1st year, Gargi Kandwal, Niharika and Aditi Rawat of B.tech 1st year. Similarly in Graphic Era Hill University Sushmita Fonia of B.Tech, Shalu of BBA, Vishal Walia of BSc Maths, Ayushi Panwar of Fashion Department and Arpit Derrick Belfore of Mass Communication were the first time donors at the camp.

Prof Amal Shankar Shukla, of Computer application Department Graphic Era Deemed University , who is also the coordinator of the blood donation camp, donated  blood 50th  time, setting  a new record.  He stated that any member of Graphic Era group can avail of free units of blood when required from the mentioned blood banks. Mr Aditya Harbola of Computer application Department Graphic Era Hill University donated for the 16th time. Mr Bhaskar Nautiyal of Graphic Era Deemed University donated for the 12th time and  Mr.  Saurabh Rawat for the 10th time at the camp in Graphic Era. 

Chief Minister Mr. Trivender Rawat Inaugurates GRAFEST -2019

Mr. Rawat urges the Universities to find ways to solve Problems:

The state Chief Minister Mr. Trivender Singh Rawat inaugurated the annual fest of Graphic Era GRFEST-2019 yesterday. Chief Minister, along with President of Graphic Era group of institutions,  Prof.  Kamal Ghanshala and other  University officials inaugurated GRAFEST- 2019 by lighting the sacred lamp.

 In his address, the Chief Minister stated that a university can play an important role in finding solutions to the problems of the state, which include problem of rural migration, the menace of monkeys and swine destroying the crops in the agricultural fields and forest fires damaging the flora and fauna of the state.   “It is important to create more job opportunities in the state, this will stop migration from the hills and”, he said.  Referring to the problem of mal nutrition detected among 20.000 children in the plains of Haridwar, Haldwani and Dehradun , he urged the universities to find  solutions  to overcome this problem.

 Mr Rawat referred to a school student who invented a device from waste box that works like a fan Chief Minister said that  according to the teachers of this student, he was  a naughty child but under right direction he was  he was able to invent something unique.  Giving the example of a class seven student from Rudraprayag, who has made a smart city plan, Mr Rawat said that Graphic Era students could also be encouraged to invent new methods and devices for improvement of life of hill people.  He appreciating Graphic Era securing position in the list of top 104 Universities  in the country, he said that Graphic Era has brought laurels to the state.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Kamal Ghanshala, President of Graphic Era group of institutions,  spoke about some recent achievements of  Graphic Era, like B.Tech student  Miss Shubhi Muniyal getting a package of Rs. 40.67 lakhs, from Adobe,  more than 30 students getting package of more than Rupees 10 lakhs each, 11 students scoring between 99 and 99.97 percentile marks in GATE 2019 and Graphic Era securing first position after IIT Roorkee in Uttarakhand  in engineering category and securing position a position in the list of 100 to 150 top universities in the University category.  Prof. Ghanshala added that Graphic Era Group has been setting a record of collecting maximum blood units in the state since last eight years.

On the first day of Grafest, today, 11 Universities and other institutes from across the country participated in technical events. Football match between Robots was the center of attraction on the first day. Five teams participated in Robo-soccer competition by designing 3 kilogram Robots. The event witnessed several competitions in technical and managerial categories.
