National Science Day celebrated at Graphic Era Deemed to be University

Graphic Era University celebrated National Science Day on 28 February to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Dr. C V Raman on 28 February 1928 for which he received Nobel Prize in 1930 and Bharat Ratna in 1954. The celebration widely spread message about the importance of science used in the daily life of the people.

Various events like Science Quiz competition, Debate competition and Technology Exhibition were organised. Speaking on the occasion, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof H. N. Nagaraja emphasised on the importance of science and engineering in country’s development. He motivated students to organise such events regularly and to actively participate. Prof Pradeep Joshi Head of Petroleum Engineering Department coordinated the entire celebration. He appreciated students for making the celebration a grand success. The celebration was on the lines of this year’s theme “Science for People, and People for Science".

Buildings with Uttarakhand architecture can extend their heights

Dehradun, 16 Feb 2019;  Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama said residents of Dehradun will have to become smart in order to make their city smart.  Mr Gama was adressing the first session of Dehradun Smart City Talks in Graphic Era Hill University as a chief guest.

Mr gama said that for the successful working and management of a smart city it is important that the citizens of that city also become smart. Artificial intelligence and sensors can make smart dustbins but at the end of the day the citizens will have to become smart enough to properly dump  the garbage in these dustbins. He added citizen engagement is the most important part of the project. He said that Graphic Era is the biggest educational institute in the state and is doing a commendable job by associating its more than15000 students with this  smart city project.

The Vice Chairman of MDDA Dr. Ashsih Shrivastava said that to make Smart City Project a sucess we need to accept it as a citizen revolution rather than a government agenda.  The project began around one-and-a-half years ago and is all set to be implemented soon.

 Integrated Command Control Centre is the most important element of this project. With the use of artificial intelligence this control room will be able to keep an eye on all the activities of the city and also regulate them. He further added that constructing an iconic building on the collectorate premises is also a part of this project. The intention is that just like if we go go to Dubai, we click pictures at  Burj Khalifa, similarly people who will visit  Dehradun will take pictures of this building.

Dr Srivastava added that buildings built on Uttarakhand Architecture will be free to increase their heights by one floor over the permited number of floors. The state government has recently passed a notification in this regard and it will be implemented in the entire state from April this year. The success if any ambitious project depends on political support and Uttarakhand government has fulfilled all our requirements untill now.

MLA and Former Mayor Mr. Vinod Chamoli said that the saying goes that anyone who comes to Dehradun once, never leaves it. This city belongs to everyone who lives here and therefore we will have have to work together to make our city a smart city.

While speaking in the talk jointly organised by the School of Planning & Architecture and Gati Foundation, AGM, Dehradun Smart City Ltd, Surya Kotnala Presented proposed details of the whooping ₹1407.5cr project. Trainer, Digital India, Mr Bhavtosh Bhatt spoke about the Union Government's Digital India Program. 

Vice Chancellor Graphic Era Hill University, Prof Sanjay Jasola mentioning the Sewage Treatment Plants, Smart Dustbins made by students, Solar Energy and Paper Recycling Plant, said  that Graphic Era is already working in the direction if smart city even before the state government's Smart City Project started.

Founder of Gati Foundation Mr Anoop Nautiyal coordinated the event. Director, School of Planning & Architecture, Ms Shriparna Shah gave the vote of thanks.



An educational fair “Mini Choose France Tour” was organized in the Graphic Era Deemed University auditorium on 22 Feb,2019. On this occasion, an MOU was also signed between Dean and Director General of RENNES School of Business, France and Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University Prof. Dr. Sanjay Jasola on behalf of Graphic Era group. Under this MOU, students of Graphic Era can get their graduation degree in various courses from France by studying two years in Graphic Era and one year in RENNES School of Business, France. Similarly, by studying one year in Graphic Era and one year in France, students can get M. Tech and MBA degrees from France. There is also a provision of Semester Exchange program where students can get the wonderful opportunity to study in France.

10 delegates from 10 renowned Universities of France ESIGELEC attended the fair. These universities are ; Graduate School of Engineering, EDHEC Business School, KEDGE Business School, IESEG School of Management, The American Business School, Paris, France International Graduate Schools (FIGS), France College de Paris, NEOMI Business School and France Pass-world. The fair was attended by the students of various schools and Universities of Dehradun. The delegates informed them about the avenues, scholarships and offerings to pursue Higher Education in  France, which can provide immense job opportunities.

The National Conference School of Hotel Management & Tourism.

A National Conference on “Digital Technology for Tourism –transformation and trends in Hospital & Tourism Industry" was organised by School of Hotel Management & Tourism. The conference brought together academicians, research scholars, corporate professionals, policy makers of hospitality industry. The conference provided the excellent opportunity to the research scholars, and academicians for publishing the articles in the Scopus listed journal apart from meeting the international and national experts from tourism and hospitality industry.

The chief guest of the conference, Prof (Dr) Arvind Dhar, VC - NIILM University, Haryana, in his inaugural address stressed upon the untapped potential of India as a tourist destination and how industry is coping with technology . Many eminent personalities from the hospitality industry attended the conference. Lt (Col). Sanjay Ahuja – CEO – TECH TREE, spoke about the ICTE attempt to create ease of doing business with the help of technology. Mr.Amit Chand –Area Head- OYO Rooms, shared how business and its conducts, accommodate the requirements of Technology. Dr.Neeraj Agarwal –UIHM, Chandigarh University, shared valuable inputs on use of technology in today’s Hospitality era. The other experts who gave their valuable inputs in the conference were, Dr.Yashpal Negi – Principal – SIHM, New Tehri, Dr,Arunesh Parashar, dev Sanskriti University, Haridwar, Dr.Reyaz Querishi, Central University Kashmir, Dr.Umakant Indolia – Dev Sanskriti University, & Dr.Hemant Bisht from SDSU(Sri Dev Suman University.
