Graphic Era signs MOU with Sapient Razorfish, French IT giant, for technical training of engineering students

Graphic is constantly involved in  creating industry ready engineering professionals, in this endeavour  Graphic Era University has signed an MOU with a France  based IT company  for providing latest global technical and soft skills training to the students of Computer Science (CS) and Information Technology (IT) of the University. Graphic Era University is now the seventh university in the country to have partnered with French IT giant, Sapient Razorfish.

The experts of the company will train the students in these fields which will prepare them for the challenges of the industry and also have technical understanding of the field of engineering.

The agreement was signed by the Vice chancellor of Graphic Era University, Prof. Dr. L.M.S Palani and by Mr Sanjeev Kumar, Idea head of Sapient Razorfish as part of the Campus Mentorship Program organised by the University. Speaking on the occasion,  Prof.  Palani said that Graphic Era University has always given more importance to experiential learning over theoretical knowledge for the students of the University and the present MOU is another step in the same direction.

Graphic Era University has previously signed an agreement with TATA Technology Ltd. to prepare and mentor engineering and make them industry ready professionals. After the agreement with TATA Technology, the University has established research labs based on latest industrial methods and techniques. The experts from TATA Technologies have been regularly working with the students in these labs and training them to be the best of engineers who can take up jobs from the very start of their career.

Graphic Era Organises Two Day Blood Donation Camp

710 Units of Blood Collected On First Day of the Camp

The two day Blood Donation camp began at Graphic Era on 14 November, 2017. On the first day of the camp collected 710 units of blood were collected. These blood units will be sent to the state’s major blood banks from where it can be used for the needy patients.

The camp was jointly inaugurated by the President of Himalayan Drugs Dr. Farukh Ahmad and President of Graphic Era Group Prof (Dr) Kamal Ghanshala along with Chief Patron of Graphic Era Group Shri R.C Ghanshala. Addressing the students, faculty and staff on this occasion, President of Graphic Era Group Prof. Kamal Ghanshala said that Graphic Era does  not only provide an environment for academic growth but also helps the youth  to become a good human being. Motivating the first time blood donors, he said that the students should take part in social activities. He also congratulated the students donating blood for third or fourth time. The President of Himalayan Drugs Dr. Farukh Ahmad said that record blood donation by the students and teachers of Graphic Era, year after year is inspiring for the entire state. He also appreciated the initiative of the students to save the life of others and to help the needy people.

On the first day 325 blood units were collected  by Mahant Indresh Hospital, 280 units by IMA Blood bank and 105 units by Doon Blood . The camp was coordinated by NSS Officer of Graphic Era University Dr. Amal Shankar Shukla and his team. On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era University Dr. L.M.S Palani and Vice chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University Dr. Sanjay Jasola  and HODs, all the faculty and students were present.


The blood donation camp also witnessed those faculty members  and students have been regular donors and inspiration for others.  Dr. Anzar Ahmad of Graphic Era University donated blood today for the 31st times, NSS volunteer Saurabh Suman for 7th  time, Sohail Ahmad of MCA, final year for 8th time, Puru Gaur for the 4th time and Siddharth Kaur donated blood for the 5th time. The camp also saw huge participation from girl students amounting to 40% of collected blood units.


Prize Distribution- Athletic Meet 2017

Departments of Commerce  bags the President’s Athletic Trophy  in the ‘President’s Cup Athletic Meet’,  Shubham, Abhishek, Neha, Apurva and Samiksha  shine

The Three Day, President Cup Athletic Meet jointly organized by Graphic Era University and Graphic Era Hill University,  concluded 0n 14 November , 2017 with the prize distribution ceremony.  Department of Commerce of Graphic Era University and School of Computing of Graphic Era Hill respectively, bagged the President’s Athletic Trophy by winning a large medal tally in many events.    Abhisheak Jural (B.Com (H) and Neha Mallik (MCA) of Graphic Era university and Samiksha Sangal, Apurva Negi and Shubham Rawat B.Com(H) of Graphic Era Hill university  bagged  gold medals in athletic events

President Cup Athletic Meet was inaugurated on the grounds of both the universities by the President Graphic Era Group, Prof (Dr) Kamal Ghanshala .He said that sports truly helps in developing the spirit of sportsmanship and play an important role in overall development.

In 100 meter race, in Boy’s category Abhishek Jural of B.Com (H) and in Girl’s category Neha Mallik (MCA) of Graphic Era University clinched gold. Shubham Rawat of B.Com (H) of Graphic Era Hill University won gold medal in 100m, 200m, 400m and long jump category and Samiksha Sangal of B.Com(H) won gold in 100m and 200m race. In the boys category of 200 meter race, Akash Verma BCA (GEU) and in girls category Preeti Yadav B.Tech (M.E) (GEU) won the gold medal , while Gaurav Negi BCA(GEU) won the first prize in the 400 meter race. In the boys category in Long Jump, Rohandeep Singh (GEU) and in girl’s category Milan Aswal BBA (GEU) won the gold medal. In the girls category Bhavya (Diploma Civil Engineering) of Graphic Era Hill University won gold. In the boys category in Shotput, Nitin Singh Gehlot M.Tech (M.E) (GEU) and in girls’ category Jigmet of (H) (GEU) won the gold medal while in the boys category of Graphic Era Hill University Aditya B.Arch and in the girls category of GEHU Apoorva Negi BBA won gold medals

Faculty members of both the universities also proved their sports skills in the Athletic Meet. In the faculty sports competitions, the men’s section of below 30 years category,  Mr Vivek Kumar (Department of Civil Engineering) and in women’s category Miss  Gunjan Singh (Department of Humanities and Social Sciences) bagged gold medals.  In the  men’s  30-45 years category  Mr Chandrabhan (staff) GEU  bagged the gold medal while in the 45 years and above category  was won by Giriraj Gupta (Department of Mathematics) GEHU.  Mr  Vipul Bhandari (Department of Hotel Management, GEU) won the men’s section in Slow cycling category and Miss Kanika Dhawan , GEU School of Commerce, in women’s category  won gold. Graphic Era has made a record in placements. Today Capgemini, a French company has offered appointment letters to 175 students of Graphic Era Including. With the addition of these students Graphic Era has already placed 1450 students this year.

This year Ashok Leyland has given the highest package of Rs. 7 lakh  to B. Tech student. Priya Mondi, ZS Associates has offered placement to 13 students of B.Tech (CS/IT) and has given a package of Rs. 5.11 Lakh per student .

Along with Capgemini, world famous computer and IT companies Phronesis partners, automobile giant-Tech Mahindra and Yamaha Motors, fashion brand-Tommy Hilfiger and famous International bank HDFC teams held  their placement drives for the students These companies were taking online tests and interviews till late evening in which the students of BCA, BBA, B.Com, MBA and B.SC (IT) of Graphic Era University and Graphic Era Hill university-Dehradun and Bhimtal campus participated and many were selected.

President, Graphic Era Group, Prof (Dr) Kamal Ghanshala, congratulating the 175 students on their selection by Capgemini,  said that this is a record placement, by single company. He gave credit for this to the new advanced technologies of the globe being used by Graphic Era in imparting training to students and preparing for industry. They are not only attaining placements but are also becoming entrepreneurs and creating employment to others as well.

In his address to the students Prof. Ghanshala said that the placement is the first milestone in the career of students and this will open the new gateways of opportunity for them.

The selection of Graphic Era students in multinational companies is still continuing. While expressing happiness of attaining placement even before his completion of course B.Tech(Mechanical) student Somnath Arora said that after getting this placement   he will be able to repay his educational loan which his father had taken for his education. Graphic Era university B.Tech (CS) student Annie Battu said that the special sessions taken by Prof Ghanshala before placement has played the key role in their selection .BCA student Sparsh Mehta said that technical classroom sessions have been the key player in his success.


Graphic Era Students bag Prizes in Debate Competition

ONGC organized a  Hindi and English debate competition on 3 November, 2017  at its campus  and Graphic Era Students  Tarishi Vashishtha, Simmi Bansal and Sapna Bisht  bagged  IInd and III positions  respectively and Anjali Verma  received consolation prize.The topic of the debate was, “Can corruption be wiped out from India? Students from many colleges and schools participated in the competition.

Two day International Workshop on Discoveries of Electrical And Electronics Organized at Graphic Era

New Discoveries Will Change Our  Life Style

A two day international workshop on “New discoveries in the field of Electrical and Electronics Communication Systems that can change the world”, was held at the University from 28 October – 29 October, 2017. Experts from the  leading institutions of the world  participated in the workshop and presented their discoveries and research.

On the first day of this two-day International Conference on Recent Innovations in Electrical and Electronics and Communication Systems, experts discussed the  recent research works like unmanned vehicles which can be used for charging themselves, wireless power distribution, smart meters which can detect electric theft and Pace Makers, who can work according to heart-breaking stresses. It is possible that soon these research works will be accomplished.

Speaking at the conference, Professor Dr. Nitish Patel of University of Auckland, New Zealand, said that between 1990 and 2000, 41 percent (about two lakhs)of the world's poorly developed Pace makers  failed due to the mistake of computer programming. Professor Patel said that in his university, research is being conducted on how the mathematical hearts can replace human hearts and they are tested for emergency by giving different levels of stress which is taken by the human heart through pace maker. He also informed about wireless power distribution, mobile charging vehicles. He highlighted the international research works, such as 'Study of Electrical Conductance Network of the Heart and Stomach' in the field of Bio-emulsion.

Prof. Dr. Ashish Kumar Singh of Moti Lal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad said that power industry will have drastic changes in ten years as compared to the changes that has taken place in the last 100 years. Speaking on Power Quality Monitoring he said that there should be maximum use of smart meters in India just like it is used in the western countries. Vice Chancellor of MMM University of Technology, Gorakhpur. (Dr.) S. N. Singh gave a presentation on moving towers Smart Electric Grid in India.

The Chancellor of Graphic Era University Prof. (Dr.) R. C. Joshi said that demand for energy across the world is increasing but traditional sources of energy are getting reduced. This area needs the most new discoveries. He said that the Internet was the largest inspection in the 90's and today even more innovation is in IOT (Internet of Things). Stating the English proverb 'Necessity is the Mother of Innovation' Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University Prof. (Dr.) L. M S. Palani said that all the new inventions that are taking place is to fulfill the needs of the people and this trend will continue to exist. Three technical sessions were also organized on the first day of the conference today.

On the second day  conference, Professor (Dr.) Mac Sharma of Birmingham City University, UK, Professor of University of Pretoria, South Africa. (Dr.) R. C. Bansal, I.O.C.L. West Bengal General Manager V.K. Shrivastav and I.I.T. Roorkee Pro. (Dr.) Y. V. Hotte and Prof. (Dr.) Nagendra Prasad Pathak participated and presented their research.

The H.O.D. of EC Engineering Department, Professor Puneet Minocha said that 50 out of the total hundred national and international inspection letters received in the conference were selected for the presentation. He also said that, the two-day International Conference is being jointly organized by the University's Electrical and E.C. Engineering departments and in collaboration with USERC, CSIR, and New Delhi. Prof (Dr) P. Thakur , the HOD of EE was the member of the Convener Board.

Selection in Republic Day Parade

Three NCC Cadets of Graphic Era University have been selected to participate in Republic Day Parade on 26 January, at Red Fort at New Delhi. The selected students are Akansha Devhan, a BTech (CS)-III year student, Himanshu B.Com(H) II year, student and Rahul Mehta of BCA-III year.
Graphic Era fraternity congratulates these students on their selection and feels proud at their achievement. This goes to the credit of a holistic education environment created by Graphic Era , which offers every student the opportunity of balanced personality growth.

Youth told to become to become job providers

Dehradun , 3 November: On the occasion of first anniversary of Biopreneurs club, experts called for students to start their own enterprises. The experts stressed that students should try to become job providers rather than seeking jobs themselves.

The first anniversary of Biopreneurs club was celebrated in the CS-IT block of Graphic Era University today. Annual magazine of the club, “flash” was also released on the occasion. Chief Guest of the programme and President, Himalaya Drugs, Dr. S Farooq said that success is guaranteed when entrepreneurship has innovations. Rather than knocking at door for jobs, one should try to create jobs to others. Dr. Farooq said that Graphic Era University is doing patriotic work of sorts by encouraging start-ups through its Biopreneurs club and the Technology Incubation Centre (TBI).

Chief Patron of Graphic Era Group and Biopreneurs club, Mr R C Ghanshala said that students should become job providers rather than job seekers. For this, they will have to work tirelessly. When someone starts something big, challenges are bound to come up. Only those who complete their tasks by facing these challenges can succeed in life. Chancellor of Graphic Era University, Prof. Dr. R C Joshi said that automation is reducing jobs globally. Encouraging entrepreneurship is the only way to create jobs in future. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. L M S Palni said that Graphic Era, which itself is an example of a successful entrepreneurship, encourages its students to become entrepreneurs too.

Speaking on the occasion, the ‘mushroom lady of Uttarakhand’ and Director, Soumya Foods Pvt. Ltd., Ms. Divya Rawat said that mushroom cultivation is one of the best industries for Biotech students. She added that Biotech students can do great work in the field of medicinal mushrooms and spawn production. Former student of Graphic Era University and a successful entrepreneur, Mr. Prakhar Srivastava said that the annual turnover of his one-year-old startup company, Ray Steeds, is more than Rs one crore today. Talking about his journey from an ordinary farmer to a lemon grass oil exporter, Founder of Yashika Herbal Agrotech, Mr. Padam Singh said that Biotech students have a lot of scope in the field of agriculture too.

President, Biopreneurs club and a B.Tech (Biotech) student, Anmol Pundir said that the club with started with just 100 members last year, has nearly 200 members today. He added that his company, Lolz Mushroom is all set to produce Keedajadi (Cordyceps Milit) in laboratory soon. Head of Biotech department, Dr. Nishant Rai, faculty members and students remained present in the programme. Dr. Naveen Kumar was the convener.




Workshop on ‘importance of emotional intelligence’



Dehradun, 2, November, 2017. Graphic Era University organizes workshop on ‘Importance of emotional intelligence’. On this occasion, emotional intelligence specialist Prof. Francis L. Kaya said that success without the skill of handling people in life is incomplete.

The chief speaker of the workshop Prof. Francis L. Kaya said that any work should be done with heart and with full dedication and commitment, only then we can get happiness and satisfaction in life and we can lead a stress free life. He advised the students to develop positive thinking and said that a person’s thoughts are reflected in his work and good thoughts can bring balance in life. He said that in order to compensate lack of self-confidence, one must push their superiority complex. He also said that the field chosen stays with us for the entire life and it is up to the people whether they chose to be happy or only successful. He also said that becoming a good leader is not easy. A leader has to learn to become a father and a mother and take care of everyone in their organization.

School of Hotel management and hospitality organized this workshop. Emotional intelligence specialist Prof Christian Muller said that we cannot change anybody but we can only inspire them. And this can be achieved only with positive attitude. During this workshop, Dr. Vinay Rana, Head of the department, HM and Hospitality said that instead of just imparting technical knowledge, it is important to develop emotional quotient which will help the students in life situations and will develop better understanding of humans through symbolic language so as to turn them to be better professionals. Students of Humanities, psychology and Hotel management department also meditated in the end of this workshop.
