Graphic Era’s Alumni Meet At Bangalore

Become job providers rather than seekers- Dr. Ghanshala urges Graphic Era alumni

Graphic Era Alumni meet was held in Bangalore on 3 March. 2017 , which saw attendance of large number of GEU alumni . Addressing the alumni and guests the President of Graphic Era Group of Institutions , Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala said “With hard work and right guidance, students can become job providers rather than job seekers.” He also advised the alumni that along with hard work and right guidance, it is also important to take care of one's health and respect elders.

Talking about startups, Dr. Ghanshala told the students that they should work hard to be good entrepreneurs and that will help them in providing jobs to others rather than seeking jobs themselves. He also informed the students about the future plans of Graphic Era and nvited them to the alumni meet to be held in Dehradun next month.

The meet was held at Hotel Novotel, in the city. Graphic Era alumni present during the Meet were unable to control their emotions during screening of a short film showcasing the journey of Graphic Era since 1993 till date. Students were lost in the memories of their college days while watching their photographs and reminiscing about their time spent in Graphic Era.

After the meet, a DJ night was organized where the students danced to the tunes of the songs. Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Jasola, Director of the university's Bhimtal campus, Prof. Anil Baliga along with hundreds of Graphic Era alumni attended the meet.

 

 


Graphic Era University Collaborates With Bombay Stock Exchange Institute for the Joint Delivery of Programs in the Field Of Finance

Graphic Era University has collaborated with Bombay Stock Exchange Institute for the joint delivery of various programs in the field of Finance. An MOU to this effect was signed by Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era University, Prof. (Dr.) B.V. Babu, on behalf of the University and by Mr Pulock Bhattacharjee, Vice president BSE Institute Limited, on behalf of the BSE Institute, on 3rd of March 2017. Dr Rupa Khanna Malhotra, HOD, School of Commerce, Graphic Era University, the faculty members and the students of the School of Commerce, Graphic Era University were also present at this occasion.

BSE conducted a short term course in the month of November last year on “Introduction to Technical Analysis and Tools”, in Graphic Era University, which was undertaken by 108 candidates- 104 students of B.Com (H), II year and 4 faculty members from School of Commerce, Graphic Era University. At the end of the course certificates were given to the participants and the top performers were honoured with Gold, Silver and bronze medal. Ms Vatsala, II year student of B.Com (H), GEU was awarded Gold medal for being the Top Performer, Ms Chetna Taneja was awarded the Silver medal and Ms Prerna awarded the Bronze medal. Mr Raghav Bhatia, another II year student of B.Com (H) was declared the Overall Top Performer of the batch. These students have also been invited and sponsored by BSE Institute in Mumbai, to visit their campus, wherein they will be inducted into the BSE and will attend a workshop on Financial Modelling conducted by BSE.


Signing of MOU with Chatham University of USA

GRAPHIC ERA GROUP AND CHATHAM UNIVERSITY OF USA SIGN MOU FOR CONTINUING DEGREE PROGRAMS

In keeping with Graphic Era University’s tradition of broadening of the education base for its students, Graphic Era group has signed an MOU with the well-known Chatham University located at Pittsburg in the United States on 21 March, 2017.  Now the students of Graphic Era University and Graphic Era Hill Universities can now secure a Master’s degree in just five years and they will be awarded degrees from both universities. Mr. Chris Musik the representative of Chatham University informed the students any student completing his / her graduation from Graphic Era Universities can get admission into Chatham University. After completing either a semester or a year, in Chatham University students will be able be awarded Bachelor’s degree from Chatham University. This can be followed up by a Master’s degree from Chatham University after studying for just one more year.

Initially the joint programs have been offered in the domain of  BBA, B.COM and BJMC, the MOU also has provisions to cater to the educational needs of the engineering students in  future. Mr. Musik also informed the students about additional provisions in the MOU which offers an optional practical training program for a period of one year.

The MOU was signed by Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Jasola the Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era Hill University, signed the MOU on behalf of the Graphic Era Educational Society and Mr. Chris Musik the representative of Chatham University.  The event was attended by HOD Management, Dr. Vishal Sagar, HOD Commerce, Dr. Arvind Mohan and HOD Media and mass communication, Prof. Madan Rajan along with Engineering students, students of B.COM, BBA and Mass Communication department.

Graphic Era Organizes 3 Day National Conference On Orchid

Deliberation on depletion of Orchid numbers in Himalayan region


Graphic Era University organized three day national conference on ‘ Medicinally and Flori-culturally important orchids”, on 24 March, 2017. The delegates held deliberations on the new research being done in the field of orchids and the illegal trade of orchids practiced in the country. The dwindling number of good quality Orchids, in the Himalayan region due to unscientific techniques of cultivation, was also discussed. Concerns were also raised about employment generation potential of the orchards being ignored. The researchers also stated that in the Himalayan region the plantation of orchids will be mark a new beginning.

After the natural calamity that struck the Kedarnath valley and destroyed many orchards, Graphic Era has taken initiative to promote orchid plantation in the hilly regions and train the farmers in orchid plantation. The three day conference is a big step towards orchid conservation and its cultivation for commercial purpose.

Dr. T. Jankiram , ADG Horticulture, Indian Council of Research, said that it is necessary to commercialize the plantation of orchid in the country. Scientist Dr S.S. Samant said that good quality orchids are found in the north western zone of Himalayas but its quantity is fast decreasing. This damage is due to the non scientific methods of plantation of orchids. This can be avoided by educating people about the importance of orchids. Dr Shashi Babbar of Delhi University, said that people practicing illegal trade of orchid could be stopped. Orchid expert Dr A.N. Rao suggested the establishment of Orchadium and national park for orchid conservation. Dr. P.K. Rajivan from Kerala threw light on the various ways of orchid conservation. Dr Palni , Dean Biotechnology department of Graphic Era also spoke at the inaugural day of the conference.

On this occasion an exhibition of the various varieties of orchids was also put up and a painting exhibition by the children of Pratishtha foundation was also put up. According to the Head of the Biotechnology Department Graphic Era University, Dr Ashish Thapliyal the three day National Conference will have many important research papers presented. On this occasion Prof Hegde, Karnataka University, Prof Gopal Rawat, WII, Kerala University, Mr J B Singh, Deputy Director National Horticulture Board were also present at the event.

 

 

Graphic Era Organizes A Blood Donation Camp

741 Units Of Blood Collected On First Day


The social responsibility and selfless service is the hallmark of youth. This virtue was abundantly displayed when enumerable students and faculty thronged to blood donation camp to donate blood. On the first day of the Blood Donation camp organized at Graphic Era University 741 units of blood was collected. The camp was inaugurated by Shri MadanKaushik, Urban Development Minister of the state . Speaking on the occasion, Shri MadanKaushik said donating blood was the noblest act and life savior for many people.. Students of the Graphic Era group have been regularly donating blood, thus setting an example for others. In the same vein students of the Graphic Era group have amply exhibiting selflessness by providing their services during disasters and forest fires.

Speaking on this occasion, the Chairman of the Graphic Era Group Dr. Kamal Ghanshala said that the Graphic Era group prepares its students not only for degrees and employment but also teaches them the spirit of service, leadership, social responsibility and cultural values. Dr. Ghanshala also said that the blood units collected during the camp will be distributed for use by needy and injured people in four prominent blood banks in Dehradun. He further added that the Graphic Era Group’s outstanding placement of students in countries like America, Britain and Canada clearly exhibits the recognition of professionalism among the students. The Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era university said that this practice of organizing blood camp has been going on for a record 6 years which has won the appreciation of the Uttarakhand government and the I.M.A has awarded the Graphic Era group four times.

On the first day of the blood donation drive, IMA blood bank received 195 units of blood, Himalayan hospital 186 units, Mahant Indresh hospital 253 units and Doon hospital 107 units. The convener of this blood donation camp Dr. Amal Shankar Shukla said that the Graphic Era University has conducted 25 blood donation camps while Graphic Era Hill University has conducted 9 such camps.

More Students Donated Blood The Second Day

Students and faculty members of Graphic Era University and Graphic Era Hill University today showed their selflessness and concern. While Dr. Amal Shankar Shukla of Graphic Era University has donated blood 36 times, Dr. Anzar Ahmed 31 times, Anil Chauhan 28 times, Rajkamal Joshi 24 times and Dr. Rajesh Kumar 21 times respectively.Exhibiting the same spirit at the Graphic Era Hill University, Shri Manoj Thakur, Aditya Harbola and Dr. Kamal Kant Joshi 14, 11 and 4 times respectively. When the teachers repeatedly donate blood, how can the students be far behind. This his perhaps why an MCA student of Graphic Era University has donated blood 7 times and Kamal Tyagi and Saurav Agrawal of B.Tech have donated blood 6 times already. Similarly, Devanshu Malik of B.Sc. IT and Shriti Rawat have donated blood 3 times already.

 

 

 

 

Graphic Era University Organizes a Workshop On Pasta Making

Graphic Era University organized a workshop on Pasta making. The workshop was conducted by the School of Hotel Management and Hospitality. The main objective of this workshop was to introduce the students to the cultural and historical factors behind Pasta, its manufacturing process, different shapes and sizes of Pasta and types of sauces used in making Pasta. Students were introduced to two different types of Pasta Fresh Pasta and Dried or commercial Pasta. They also learnt how to make different pastas and their sauces, through video tutorials.

Mr. Amar Dabral, Schiff, Graphic Era University organized this workshop to make the students understand the importance of Italian cuisine. In his expert lecture Mr Dabral informed the students that 21 October is celebrated as Pasta Day in Italy and that Pasta is the staple food of Italy and Italy is also the leading producer and consumer of Pasta. Under this workshop students were taught to make different dishes with Pasta like Minestrone soup, Penne pasta in Arrabiata sauce..

Mr Dabral also said that Indians loved pasta with Arrabiata sauce as it is very spicy. Dr. VinayRana, Head of the department, Hotel Management and Hospitality, Samrat Bisht, RaveenaTandon, Kunal Chauhan, Aman Gupta, NeerajVerma, ShikhaMili, ShivaniGarg, ParthKhera and AnubhavBhakuni were present at the event.

 

 


Graphic Era Bags First Position in Robo-War at IIT- Roorkee and IIT- Ropad Annual Tech-Fest

Graphic Era Group has once again proved its mettle in the field of technology and new inventions. The occasion was Annual Tech-Fest of IIT Roorkee and IIT- Ropad where the students of Graphic Era University bagged first position in Robot War Competition.

More than 100 teams from various colleges and universities participated in the tech-fest ‘Cognizance 2017’ organized by IIT Roorkee and IIT Ropad. It took two years of hard-work and dedication for the students of Graphic Era University to create these robots. The three robots of 49 Kg, 45 Kg and 40Kgs are controlled with a wireless remote. During the robot war, there are 5 rounds in a period of three minutes between the robots where the marks are assigned on the basis of attack and defense techniques of the robots.
