About the Department

Electrical Engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the invention, design, development and commercial applications of electrical and electronics systems, components and devices, generation, transmission and distribution. Electrical Engineering is applied to wide domains such as: Civil, Automobile, Mechanical, Aviation, Power & Energy Sector, Nanotechnology, Industrial Control, Automation satellite Communication, Power Quality Assessment etc. As per the recent scenario, there is a much demand of Electrical Engineers across the globe. The necessity of electricity has increased in recent years from domestic to Industry. This increase in requirement of electricity is offering large number of opportunities to Electrical Engineers. Electrical Engineers can opt for power and energy sector including: hydro, thermal, atomic power plants, solar etc. There is plentiful job prospects in both private and public/govt. sectors such as: Production plants, Design industries, Petroleum industry, Natural gas plants, railways, civil aviation, electricity board, utility companies, electrical design and consultancy firms and all types of manufacturing industries. Beside these abundant job opportunities, the electrical engineering students can join various research institutions and research and development labs. The possibility for the students after completing B. Tech in Electrical Engineering is very immense in terms of higher studies also.

The objectives of the Department of Electrical Engineering in Graphic Era University are transforming the students into efficient and capable technical professionals, having sound knowledge with analytical ability, creativity and professional competence. We impart necessary training to our graduates and make them competent enough to take on the professional responsibility in the world around them. For imparting quality and innovative education, the Department of Electrical Engineering has experienced as well as young and dynamic personalities as faculty from various IIT’s, NIT’s and other renowned institutes. The faculty endeavours to nurture and inspire a teaching methodology that is both practical and theoretical in approach, resulting successful projects and trainings of the students. The faculty members of the department are dedicated to empower students with recent and innovative technologies and support in exceptional research in their respective expertise at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Also, the faculty members unremittingly share their research skills and experience through expert lectures in various reputed institution..


The Department of Electrical Engineering aims at providing organizations with engineers who are a best fit for the organization's needs. The department always strive to build such skills among the students in a systematic manner. The training and placement department has a focused approach to prepare students right from the start of their curriculum. The training process addresses such areas as building relationship and projecting a personality that is appropriate to a young engineering graduate taking an assignment in an organization. Our students have been placed in various PSUs and National and Multinational Companies of repute.

Research in the department is at the leading-edge of technological innovations and encompasses all major areas of electrical engineering. The department has unique research facilities that enable leading-edge research in many areas such as Power Quality, Energy Systems, Process Control, Biomedical and Biometrics, Power Electronics, and Intelligent Control Systems. These facilities provide an excellent opportunity for our graduate students to be trained and gain valuable experience. The research publications of the department are available with renowned digital libraries such as, IEEE transactions, IET, Taylor & Francis, Springer, Elsevier etc.

Also, the faculty members have contributed their research work in numerous international conferences, held in India and abroad. The research works of the department have been contributed in IEEE ICHQP, Honkong, IEEE ICHQP, Romania, WREC, Sweden, IEEE Florida , IEEE-SCES, IEEE-ICPEC, IEEE-ICCPCT, IEEE-Nuicon, etc.

Mission
M1: To equip students with adequate Electrical Engineering knowledge and skills, to motivate for meaningful contribution useful to the societal needs.

M2: To produce Electrical Engineers with strong base, clear thoughts, strong theoretical/analytical foundation, and articulation needed to generate quality professionals in diverse societal and industrial applications.

M3: To provide adequate laboratory facilities for oriented research and innovation.

PEO 1:

Program Outcomes:

Engineering Graduates will be able to:

PO1: Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2: Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

PO3: Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO4: Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PO5: Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO6: The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

PO7: Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PO8: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

PO9: Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

PO10: Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
