Highlights

Academic Excellence: The department strives to impart knowledge in the field of commerce with the prime purpose of achieving excellence in the quality of commerce environment. The department emphasis on self-sufficiency, independent approach, out of box vision, having a capability of undertaking professional commitments with positive aptitude, creative thinking, and corporate leadership.

Life Skills: The department imparts adequate inputs such that a trainee is capable of handling commerce-related activities with desirable and appropriate skills without having to undergo any additional training or workshop. It is a concerted effort on the part of the faculty to ensure that the skill levels attained by the trainee are well over the above average capabilities required by a student to enable a smooth transition from the learning stage to implementation and conceptual stage.

Character Formation: A student is fortified extensive counseling towards personalization of genuine religious and moral values necessary for a focused and a balanced mind such that all decisions taken within the ambit of the working environment are logical, accurate and fruitful.

Social Concern: A student is prepared to operate within a current social environment with a sense of justice, fair approach, target oriented and result oriented. In this, the student is made alive to the prevailing social responsibility aspects of the business environment in the country. A student is lead into dovetailing his professional wisdom to that of the social consciousness required for a stable business environment. Developing a practical awareness of the prevailing social conditions and commitment to the cause of social justice.

Pedagogy: From the traditional lecture method to the contemporary classes equipped with computer/internet, a variety of teaching methods are used as per the requirements of the topic and the need of individual students to help them develop the skills they need to become an effective professional. The teaching methods adopted are further clubbed with relevant case discussions or workshops, field visits, and role-playing.

Beyond the Classroom:

  • Various in-house workshops, lectures, conferences, and seminars are conducted to provide a practical insight into the commercial environment. These are not only restricted to the professional curriculum but also conducted for the overall development of the students as a sound professional.
  • In order to widen the scope of the curriculum, a large number of industrial visits are also undertaken so that the student at a later date is mentally fortified and enabled to face the practical and operational side of the industry.

Learning from Leaders:

  • A number of guest lectures are conducted where the students had the opportunity to interact directly with the leading luminaries of the corporate and academic world which enabled them to understand how the external environment operates.
  • To widen the horizon of education, various seminars are conducted where the students interact first hand with the external agencies to understand not only conceptual but also the application of the subject in the outside world.

Induction program B.Com (H) from 12 th t 16th sep’2022

Five day long induction program was organized at department of commerce beginning with address by HOD and introduction of the faculty members .There were sessions to make the fresher batch aware about the ACCA and CMA programmes . The following days guest speakers Mr.Sushil Singh interacted and explained about the importance of skill enhancement followed by a session on personality development .On the third day a session was organized by TBI intended to ignite the students about entrepreneurship and its benefits.

Other creative sessions included engrossing activities on Origamy conducted by the ‘Papertech Society’ and ‘Kavyanjali’, the literary club of the university. The final day was entertaining with a session on quiz and sharing of experience by alumni of the department.

The induction was followed by fresher’s party on 17th September that enthralled the audience with scintillating performances from the fresh batch as well as the senior batch who played wonderful hosts.

Educational tour to Regional Science Centre, Dehradun 26.08.2022

Students and faculty members of department of commerce had one day visit to Regional Science Centre at Jhajra, Dehradun on 26.8.22. 55 students had a memorable experience watching 3D movie taking them to various ages in human evolution and explaining the importance of conserving the nature. The students participated in the numerous fun games based on basic scientific principles and learnt by viewing the amazing Himalayan gallery. All in all it was a learning experience.

DAY 1

Department of Commerce welcomed the Batch 2021-22 marking the beginning of 1 weeklong Induction Program 2021 through online mode. The DAY 1 of Induction was a success which witnessed enthusiastic participation of 154 students. The Key speaker at the event was Dr. Ranjeet Mukherjee who welcomed the students with his warm words followed by a Poster Making Activity Event Hosted by Dr. Ambica Prakash Mani. Student's participation was overwhelming. The New Batch showcased their talent by writing thoughtful original slogans on life, Books, Covid etc. In the evening session Ms. Saumya Gupta organized management games which students enjoyed while learning management tricks.

Induction Programme Day 2
Session has been organized for students to appraise them of the B. Com (Honors) in International Finance and Accounting with ACCA, UK programme offered by the Department.
Mr. Vikas Khosla, National Head, ISDC India and Mr. Nikhil Sharma, Regional Manager, North, ISDC India were the speakers for the session.
They discussed the intricacies of the programme appraising them about the requirements, qualifications and other related aspects of the programme. Students were informed about the exemptions provided and the fee structure along side placement prospects. Students raised various queries which were beautifully addressed by the speakers. In addition to it, one more session has been organized for students to appraise them of the B. Com (Honors) in Corporate Accounting and Financial Analysis with CMA, US programme offered by the Department.

Mr. Micheal Wagner, Vice President, Miles Education and Mr. Girish Nair, Regional Manager, North, Miles Education were the speakers for the session.
They discussed the intricacies of the programme appraising students about the requirements, qualifications and other related aspects of the programme. Students were informed about the exemptions provided and the fee structure alongside placement prospects. Students raised various queries which were beautifully addressed by the speakers

DAY 3

Fun and energizing Just a Minute  online activities like once upon a time, letter scavenger and recall it! were conducted on 29th of September 2021 during the Commerce department induction program 2021 wherein freshers participated with great zeal and enjoyed thoroughly.

In continuation of the online induction program for the first year students(2021-24 Batch) , there was a talk conducted by department of commerce regarding the cultural activities and its importance by Dr. Vinay Kumar Jain. The new methods of protecting from the virus and their importance were discussed.The one-hour event regarding the “Mask and TatooPainting” was also conducted by Dr. Vinay Kumar Jain. In the session the applicability of different means of showing creativity they participate in, importance of using colors and brush, and taking decisions in professional life was discussed. Real life problems were discussed with them. There was a very good participation and discussion from students in preparing masks and tattoos.there was a talk by Dr. Mohit Ojha and Dr. Amit Kumar Uniyal about new courses and their importance .

Another one hour event regarding the “Case Studies” was conducted by Dr. Amit Kumar Uniyal. Topics covered in the session were the applicability of different subjects , importance of data analysis, open ended cases, taking decisions in daily and professional life were discussed.  There was a good participation and discussion from students in solving the cases.

Department of Commerce, in association with ISDC ACCA organized 5-Days Faculty Development Program on Financial Reporting from 20th March to 24th March, 2023.

Mr. Deepak Agarwal and Mr. Jajnish Gandhi are the resource person for this FDP.

Mr. Deepak covered the topics of amortization and related areas of Financial Reporting

Mr Jaynish Gandhi took session on comparing the financials and technical indicators of investment.

Department of Commerce, Graphic Era Deemed to be University organized a 1-day Seminar on topic 'International Career Opportunities in Finance and US Taxation' for students of B. Com (Honors) on 18th Oct. 2022.

CPA, CA Kamal Chhabra, Founder & CEO, KC GlobEd and Former Director, International Relations - North America, MSME and Startup Forum - Bhart was the key speaker for the seminar.

CA Chhabra elaborated upon the importance of finance and Taxation for commerce graduates and available opportunities in related disciplines. CA Chhabra specifically elaborated upon US Taxation system and Enroll Agent programme a US Taxation Certification Course. He gave students an inside out view of this Certification course and explained entire details, i.e., importance of US Taxation course in today's environment, demand of US Taxation experts in industry, process of pursuing the course, course structure and related aspects.

The session was very fruitful; students got their queries solved with respect to US Taxation Certification. A total of 215 students attended the session and get benefitted out of it.

Department of Commerce in association with Institutions Innovation Council-GEU has organised Webinar on topic “Angel Investment/VC Funding Opportunity for Early Stage Entrepreneurs” for students of B.Com (Honors) V Semester students on 30 August 2022.

Mr Sanjay Pratap Singh, GM-Sales and Marketing, Elegant Steel(Shakambhari Ispat and Power Ltd) has been the resource person for this Student Training Programme.

5-day Webinar on Accounting for Managerial Decisions

Department of Commerce, Graphic Era Deemed to be University, in association with International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) organized a 5-day Webinar on topic Accounting for Managerial Decisions for students of B. Com (Honors) from 6th - 10th June, 2022.

Prof. Chinmay Shah, Trainer and Instructor at ISDC was the resource person for the webinar.

In the entire webinar, Prof. Shah will discuss upon capital budgeting techniques, standard costing and performance management. On 6th June, Prof. Shah discussed about different capital budgeting techniques, like discounted cash flow techniques (NPV) and non-discounted cash flow techniques (payback period).

Overall, the session was very informative and fruitful for students.

One Day Seminar on Professional Qualification

Department of Commerce, Graphic Era Deemed to be University, in association with International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) organized a one-day Seminar on topic Professional Qualification for students of B. Com (Honors) on 23rd June, 2022.

CA Nishant Katoch, Trainer and Instructor at ISDC was the resource person for the seminar.

CA Katoch discussed about different professional qualifications that a commerce graduate can enrol into to enhance their career prospects. CA Katoch emphasised upon the qualifications like CMA, CPA, ACCA, CFA, and so on and enlightened students with his words of wisdom. CA Katoch also provided guidance upon how to choose a particular qualification? what are the pre-requisites for any particular qualification?, pros and cons of different professional qualifications and how such professional qualifications can help students get better placement and how these will open up their chances of working abroad.

Overall, the session was very informative and fruitful for students.

Alumni Session

Department of Commerce organized an " Alumni Interaction Session" for the students on 22 June 2022 on the Topic " International Financial Reporting Standards". One of our Alumni Mr. Saransh Sridhar, Diploma holder ACCA UK was the spokesperson for the session. He is from 2018-2021 B.com (Honours) Batch. He discussed with students about the basics of International Financial Reporting Standards. Further, he explained the terms and working related to the financial reporting according to the international accounting techniques . He also took up examples of different companies to explain in a better way. Further he discussed the errors students usually make while preparing for ACCA exam and how they can manage their time and resources for better results. The session was highly interactive, and students clarified their doubts from alum.

Financial Literacy

Department of Commerce in association with SV Wealth Partner's through BSE Investor Awareness Program organised webinar on Financial Literacy on 9th April, 22 at 10:00 am. Total 90 students attended the session. The entire session was taken by the expert Mr. Shamsher Singh who discussed the vibrant topics of Securities market, Do`s and Don'ts of investing into the Securities Market, contract note, primary and secondary market, private placements, QIB. The session was quite interesting for students a lot of information, knowledge, and awareness were disseminated among students and ended up with queries resolution.

Women's Day Celebration

Women’s day was celebrated with much enthusiasm at Graphic Era Deemed to be University in association with ONGC. The day began with lighting of lamp by the Hon’ VC of the university and was followed by women faculties and staff members participating in the numerous events that were organized by various departments of the university. Speech competition was organized on the topic of “Role of women empowerment in national development”. There was ‘Portrait Sketching’ and ‘Rangoli making’ competitions where the students showcased their creative talent. In the Poetry Event, the participating students showcased their poetry writing and recitation talents. The other dimensions of students personality were also tested was in role play event on “ Unsung Heroes”. The day culminated with a felicitation and award ceremony where three winners of all the events were awarded with certificates and cash award of one thousand each. Selected female faculties, staff members and house keeping staff was also awarded with cash prize and certificates sponsored by ONGC.

Live Alumni Interaction Session

Department of Commerce organized a "Live Alumni Interaction Session" for the students on 25th February 2022. One of our Alumni Ms. Ayushi Ahulwalia , Educator and CSE Aspirant was the spokesperson for the session. She is from 2017-2020 B.com (Honours) Batch. She discussed with students about the preparation for Competitive exam. Further, she explained how to match syllabus and past year papers to get maximum benefits. She also discussed about the current affairs such as Accreditation policy, New Education Policy etc. Further she discussed the errors aspirants usually make while preparing for civil services and other government examination. The session was highly interactive, and students clarified their doubts from alumni's.

Live Alumni Interaction Session

Department of Commerce organized a "Live Alumni Interaction Session" for the students on 11th February 2022. One of our Alumni Mr. Pranjal Jain, Process executive (Infosys) and Co-head of Crypto Curious was the spokesperson for the session. He is from 2017-2020 B.com (Honours) Batch. He discussed with students about the basics of cryptocurrency market and the impact of recent change in budget 2022 regarding the taxation rate of crypto gain. Further, he explained the terms and working related to Crypto market and how to begin trading in it. He also took up different crypto currencies from the market to explain in a better way. Further he discussed the errors people usually make in choosing a cryptocurrency to start with and how it can be handled to secure a gain. The session was highly interactive, and students clarified their doubts from alumni's.

Budget Economic Survey

Department of Commerce, organized a webinar on " Budget and Economic survey analysis 2022" on 2nd February 2022. The students of B.com Hons presented the analysis. Detailed analysis of each sector was done. Total 130 students participated in the live session. The Union Budget 2022-23 followed a prudent strategy of driving growth through capital expenditure and encouraging private investment with higher public spending.

National Girl Child Day

Department of Commerce, Graphic Era Deemed to be University on 24th January 2022 celebrated The "National Girl Child Day," with organizing a webinar on “Healthy Menstruation Fighting shy of our cycles” and “Is obesity keeping you busy?”. Dr. Hina Mittal and Dr. Ankit Aggarwal were the expert speakers for the sessions respectively. 193 Students enthusiastically participated in the webinar and found it very interactive and informative.

Health Awareness Camp

1 day student development programme on “ career oppourtunities for commerce graduates” was organized on 27.11.2021. Dr.Saanjeev Malviya , Dean (officiating) IBS Dehradun was the speaker for the program. Different aspects of career paths and opportunities for commerce graduates were shared with the students. The session was very eventful as students were able to clear their doubts in view of forthcoming placement drives.

Department of Commerce in collaboration with ICFAI Business School (IBS) Gurgaon organized a 1-day Student Development Program on Preparing for Digital/Online Interview for students of B. Com (Honors) on 27th August 2021.

Dr. Shubhangini Rathore Bhalla was the resource person for the session. Dr. Bhalla is a doctorate faculty and event coordinator at ICFAI Business School Gurgaon. Dr. Bhalla discussed upon technicalities associated with online interview and provided tips to students regarding the do’s and don’ts of online interview. She explained how to answer the questions asked in the interview regarding hobbies and strength. The session was very interactive and students solved a lot of their queries regarding online interviews. 

FDP on ethical dilemma at workplace

Department Commerce in collaboration with International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) organized an FDP on Ethical Dilemma at Workplace in 21st Century on 14th August. CA Deepak Agarwal was the resource person for the FDP.
CA Deepak is a qualified Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. CA Deepak is passionate about trainings and is currently a Senior Faculty with ISDC. CA Deepak will be addressing the faculty on ethical issues one face at workplace and the importance of ethical values in both personal and profession life.

Alumni Interaction session organized at Department of Commerce

Department of Commerce organized a "Live Alumni Interaction Session" for students of B.Com. (Honours) on 7 th August 2021. One of our star Alumni Ms. Arushi Jain ,Business Reporter, Informist Media(Mumbai) was the spokesperson for the session. She is from 2015-2018 B.com (Honours) Batch. She discussed about the importance of co-curricular activities and internship during studies and how it can help in enhancing the skill set and prospects for the job. She also discussed about the future opportunities that students may get in campus placement during the last year. She also emphasized the role of teachers and seniors to clear the doubts regarding higher education and placements. The session was highly interactive and students clarified their doubts from alumnis.

Department of Commerce organized a "Live Alumni Interaction session" for students of B. Com (Honors) on 24th July, 2021. Two of our star alumni, Ms. Amisha Gautam, Machine Learning Data Associate, Amazon Go and Mr. Aakash Chauhan, Business Quality Specialist, Amazon India were the spokesperson for the session. Both  are from 2016-2019 B. Com (Honors) batch. Ms. Amisha discussed with students about the importance of internship and how it can help in enhancing the skill set and prospects for job. She also discussed about the future career plan that students may pursue after their graduation. She laid emphasis upon having corporate experience after graduation and how it may help in post graduation and thereafter jobs. Further, Akash Chauhan discussed with students about being realistic in the current competitive world. He emphasized upon the errors students usually make after achieving graduation and how it can be handled to make a better future. The importance of core skills that one must have to get better campus placements were also highlighted.The session was  interactive and students bought various doubts and get them clarified by both the alums.

FDP organized at Department of Commerce fro 12 to 16th July’21

Department of Commerce in collaboration with International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) organized a 5-Day Faculty Development Program on Accountant in Business for faculty members of Department of Commerce from 12th to 16th July 2021. CA Mayurika Dassani is the resource person for the FDP. CA Dassani will be discussing upon the intricacies of Accountant in Business course and will also talk about the key aspects related to business environment, technology adoption in business, key business functions and so on.

5 Day FDP on Basics of Financial Management organized at department of Commerce

Department of Commerce, in association with International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) is organizing a5 day - FDP on Basics of Financial Management from 1st July 2021. CA Annie Pitta will be the resource person for the FDP. CA Pitta is a lead trainer from ISDC and possess expertise in financial planning, financial management, financial decisions, and other aspects of finance. The FDP is going to offer detailed understanding of basic concepts of financial management, such as, dividend policy decisions, long term financing decisions, weighted average cost of capital, and so on.

30 Hrs Value Added Course on Financial and Investment Modeling

Department of Commerce is offering a 30 Hrs Value Added Course on Financial and Investment Modeling for students of B. Com (Honors) Final Year. The programme is scheduled from 12th to 19th May, 2021. Dr. Kr. Saurabh will be the resource person and trainer for the course. Dr. Saurabh is expert in financial valuation, portfolio analysis, corporate valuation and so on. The course will provide students with hands on training on MS Excel to solve various financial issues like computing risk, return, beta, portfolio creation and rebalancing and other aspects of financial and investment modeling. The course is going to be a real help for students by virtue of its linkage to industry requirements

30 hr Value Added Course on Business Analysis organized at the department of commerce

Department of commerce in association with International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) organized a 30 hrs value added course for students of B.Com (H) on Audit and Assurance in International context adopting IFRS. Mr.Sudeesh Sharma from ISDC was an expert member and trained. The course provided a practical orientation on audit procedures with special emphasis on the international context of auditing including IFRS and its applicability. The program was conducted between 3rd Feb till 19th Feb’21.

 

30 hr value added course on financial management conducted at department of commerce

Department of commerce in association with International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) organized a 30 hrs value added course for students of B.Com (H) on Audit and Assurance in International context adopting IFRS. Mr.Sudeesh Sharma from ISDC was expert member and trained. Mr.Sarvesh Mopar from ISDC was the resource person. The course elaborated upon the practical aspect and applicability in international context. The event was organized between 3rd and 19th Feb’21.

WEBINAR ~ YOUTH AND COVID: COVID IMMUNITY PROTOCOL

On this day when people are scared to step outside their home due to this CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC, a webinar was conducted by our college i-e; GRAPHIC ERA DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY for our students and faculty members through which we can realize the importance of YOGA & MEDITATION in our day to day life. And for enlighten us our college has invited Ms. Manmeet Kaur Agarwal.

She has lighted up so many with her knowledge, Ms. Manmeet stressed upon the various aspects of Asanas & meditation exercises with excellent description which leads us to stay fit physically as well as mentally.

She explained everything in detail and was very polite and also created a comfortable zone for the students as well. She describes everything with a witty & humorous touch while connecting to a student’s life which makes the overall webinar absorbing and fascinating.

She taught us various types of Asanas and answered all the questions asked by the Attendees radiantly and straight to the point.

The Event ended with everyone being on the same wavelength of delight and grasp of a great deal of knowledge. Dr. shipra agarwal mam (ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR) thanked Ms. Manmeet mam for the outstanding webinar and the students who patiently attended it and made it a great success.

WEBINAR FOR ACCA STUDENTS ON 14th OCT’20

On 14 October 2020, a webinar was conducted for ACCA students of 5th semester, taken by CA Sudesh Neupane, the webinar covered important topics on audit and assurance. The webinar was interactive and provided an opportunity to the students to revise on certain topics. The topics included types of audit risk, risk assessment procedures, the importance of planning in an audit, importance of working papers and professional skepticism. 


Two Days Webinar

Two days webinar was organised on 12th October 2020 and 13th October 2020 by the Department Of Commerce  on Advance performance  management for the students of B.Com (Hons)ACCA , CMA Annie Kavitha Pitta was the expert from ISDC, Banglore who elaborated the key areas of APM like Risk and Uncertainty and dealing with it, Knowledge management  system,Business process Reengineering and techniques of evaluating performance of the organisation.It was a very interactive session where all the queries of the students  were resolved by the expert.


Post budget analysis session conducted on 2nd Feb’2021

The government presented the union budget for the year yesterday. The commerce students represented by the Finance and Investment cell took it as an opportunity to analyze the implications of the budget. A session was organized at the department of commerce over MS Teams where complete analysis was presented by the student members of the Finance and Investment cell. Session was started by introductory remarks by Dr. Vinay Jain and concluded by budget overview presented by CA Priti and Dr. Mohit Ojha.

One day investor awareness Webinar organized on 17th Feb’2021

Department of commerce in association with Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) organized a one day investor awareness webinar on “financial management and Covid-19”

Mr. Praveen Kumar Dwivedi was the resource person who deliberated upon the challenges in financial management in pandemic times. He also discussed the importance of starting investing early.

Webinar held at Department of Commerce on 08.05.2021

Department of Commerce in association with BFSI, Skill India and National Skill Development Corporation  (NSDC) organized a "1-Day Virtual Orientation Programme on Existing and Future Job Opportunities in the BFSI Sector" on 8th May from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM for students . Mr. Soumya Ranjan (Head - Business Operation), BFSI SSC was the speaker for the session. Mr. Ranjan discussed about the BFSI Sector in India and the huge job potential it can offer in future. He also elaborated students about various job profiles on offer in BFSI Sector and provided tips on how to approach each position.

The session was very interactive where students raised their doubts related to future career possibilities and whether they should pursue master's or go for job before progressing to their Masters. The session resulted very fruitful insights for the students as it cleared their serious doubts and confusion related to choosing right path for their career.

Induction programme at department of commerce on 21.9.20

The week long extravaganza at the department level in the form of induction  started at the Department of Commerce with the Head of the Department, Dr.Rupa Khanna Malhotra formally welcoming the freshers .In her address she informed about the activities of the department as well as the achievements of the students. The faculty members were also introduced over the online MS teams platform.

Following her session, an activity session on ‘Slogan Writing’ was conducted by Dr.Ambica Mani. The students participated enthusiastically and made lively slogans and presented them over on A3 sheets. There was a session taken by the procter of the university explain the code of conduct and other standards. One minute interactive and lively session was also conducted by Ms.Himani Upreti and Puzzle solving session by Dr. Chandan Gupta. To sum up it was an action packed day for the new students.

Day two of the induction witnessed exciting activities like Mask Painting and Tattoo design painting conducted by Dr. Vinay Kumar Jain. An activity where students learnt to recycle the waste creatively was conducted by Ms. Pooja.  Slogan writing and presenting was done by Dr. Ambica Mani. A session of case study was conducted by Dr.Amit Kumar Uniyal and Quiz was conducted by CA Preeti Sharma. The students participated whole heartedly in all the activities. The day also had a session by CMA expert Mr. Girish and his team.

Induction Day 3

The day 3 of the induction was a mix of activities including case writing and recycling the waste to creative formation like mask and tattoo painting that proved to be an engrossing activity. The freshers were kept productively busy in fun and energizing “just a minute” activities like letter scavenger, once upon a time and recall it. The students participated in all the activities with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Induction Day 4

Today 24.9.20 was a different day for the fresh group of students. The students moved out in the open to take the challenge of saving the environment with Dr. Shipra Agarwal when they planted saplings and wrote beautiful messages to protect mother earth. Their minds were spinned by Mr.Satyam Srivastava with a computer based online quiz session, ‘Spin the Wheel’. In parallel session pshychological tests, WAT/TAT were conducted by Dr. Ranjit Mukherjee and Ms. Riya tested the culinary skills of the freshers by giving them a cooking challenge. The students  moved to the kitchen to prepare  simple but yummy dishes and showcased them beautifully. Finally the day ended with an illuminating session conducted by ACCA Experts. 

The department of commerce had organised a poster making and slogan writing competition on the topic of “PEACE”. It was a relevant theme considering that the whole world is marred by violence. A total of 64 students took part in the competition and using colour variations they portrayed their imagination on paper and exhibited their creative talent. In poster making ,Riya Yadav and Kriti of Sem 2B secured 1st position . In slogan writing , Riya Chauhan and Rishi Vig of Sem 2C got 1st position.

The competition was like an extravaganza for the young artist and left everyone spell bound. It was like the colours of rainbow blended with exuberance and uniqueness spread over paper sheets. The efforts were heartily appreciated by the judges and faculty members of the department. All the posters and slogans are exhibited in the CS/IT auditorium so that students can have a look at the amazing work of the commerce brigade.

INVESTOR AWARENESS PROGRAMME 26.8.2021

Department of Commerce In association with SV Wealth Partners, Delhi has organized a 1-day Certificate Program on Investor Awareness and Financial Literacy for students of B. Com (Honors) on 26th August 2021. Mr. Shamsher Singh, Certified Financial Planner was the resource person for the session. Mr. Shamsher is NISM- V Certified and is recipient of CNBC 18 Financial Advisor Award. Mr. Singh discussed upon different aspects of Mutual Funds like why to invest in mutual fund, from where to start investing, taxation of mutual funds, investing into mutual funds and different aspects of financial investment. The session was very interactive where students clarified their doubts and queries related to mutual funds investment in India.

Commerce students organize Out-bound activity trip to Rishikesh

One day trip to Rishikesh  was organized by Department of Commerce on 9, February, 2019 for  II Sem and IV Sem students. Around   87 students visited Rishikesh.

During the trip  students  visited Laxman Jhula and participated in adventure sports  and played games . They also enjoyed a bonfire with music over evening snacks.

Department of commerce organized an intra departmental speech competition today in the seminar hall in the CS/IT  department. 13 enthusiastic students spoke vibrantly and proudly on the 70th year of Indian Republic. The words took everyone down the memory lane on the efforts and pain taken in the formation of the constitution and raised issues on the contemporary situation , where often a common person's fundamental rights are sidelined.

The young and charged commerce brigade was heartily cheered and applauded by the audience. The event was co-ordinated by Dr. Ambica Prakash Mani and the winners were Ms. Shruti Singhal of Sem II C and Sristi Verma of sem IV A.

Visit to Himalayan Drugs Co. Ltd

234 students of sem 1 from commerce department were taken for an educational tour to Himalayan Drugs Co. Ltd. The students visited the heritage museum which houses the memories of the founder Lt. Mr. Misal. The scientist of the organization accompanied the students and explained the different facilities at the site of production. Herbal garden was another area of fascination for the students where unique medicinal herbs are grown. The interaction with the President Dr. S. Farroq was particularly informative. In a quiz session the students were awarded with Himalayan products.

Students of B.Com (Hons) visited Himalayan Drugs Company on 16th of Aug 2018

A guest lecture was organized at the department of commerce for the students of Semester 3 on 23.11.21. Mr.Vishal JC , CEO of TBI-GEU was the guest speaker. He shared his own experiences and emphasized the need to create jobs by being an entrepreneur. The students of commerce interacted and discussed their ideas with him. The various qualities that are needed in an entrepreneur and the ability to cope up with failures as well as never give up attitude was  also emphasized. The students were very inspired by the session.

Expert session on 27th Nov’20 

Department of Commerce in association with Miles Education Private Limited organized an expert session for students of B. Com (Honors) in Corporate Accounting and Financial Analysis with CMA (US) and BBA in Corporate Accounting and Financial Analysis with CMA (US) of Graphic Era Deemed to be University and Graphic Era Hill University.

The expert session programme started from 27th Nov, 2020 between 4-6 PM and will be scheduled every week on Friday from 4-6 PM.

The expert members for inaugural session were Mr. Vivek Gupta and Mr. Girish Nair from Miles Education Private Limited.

Experts discussed and solved queries of students related to CMA programme.

Dr.Ambica Prakash Mani, Associate professor at Department of Commerce, GEU. delivered expert talk on “Engineering Education in Regional Languages”. She was invited to deliver the lecture in one day workshop organized by PIET group of Institution affiliated to Rajasthan Technical University on 7th Aug’21. The talk covered the importance or communication and language in higher education and focused on the new education policy 2020. More than 100 students and faculty of various RTU affiliated colleges were present during the session.

Dr. Rupa Khanna edited Book chapters of 'International Business' authored by Prof. Charles W. Hill (Foster School of Business, University of Washington) and published by McGraw Hill Publications.

Dr. Rupa Khanna was invited to deliver a lecture on Digital India by Niti Aayog and Dias Foundation in Uttarakhand Sustainable Development Festival, Champawat.
