Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. This disease has now been declared a global pandemic and countries have been taking relentless action to curb the spread of this disease. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.
With the safety and welfare of students being our primary interest, the university has advised all students to refrain from travelling, and have asked them to stay home until the descent of this virus.
The main cause of spread of COVID-19 is through saliva droplets or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The following prevention methods are issued by World Health Organization
The Government of India has imposed lockdown in multiple states and districts of India. All educational institutes (schools, universities, and coaching centers) and malls, parks, and tourist attractions are shut down. The entry of tourists within the country has been banned for the time being in order to minimize the spread of COVID-19. People are advised to self-isolate themselves and practice social distancing. All public transports have been ceased, and most states have cancelled domestic and international trains and flights. It is believed that timely precautionary measures can help reduce the spread and eventually, the casualties caused by Covid-19.
The university is closed till 15th of April, 2020 as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19. All events have been suspended and most staff and faculty members have been advised to work from home. However, it is assured that the studies of students will not be hampered in any way, and the university has taken essential steps to ensure a smooth continuation of the semester.
Following steps are taken to continue a hassle-free teaching-learning process to ensure consistency amongst the students-
1. All study material have been shared with students online (recorded video lectures + reading material)
2. To ensure smooth functioning of the semester, teachers will be conducting online classes and webinars wherein students can actively participate and pursue their subjects.
3. All teachers will be available to students at all times, should they face any difficulty in their self-study process. Doubts will be clarified and students’ progress shall be regularly tracked.
4. Technical staff and faculty shall remain available from their homes in case students face any technical difficulty or obstacles during their online coursework. The continuity and consistency of our students’ learning is our prime concern.
The university strives to substantially combat this global pandemic with its active and efficient safety and precautionary measures. All academic practices shall be actively functioning with all essential services like counselling, teaching, technical support up and running. We believe students will harmoniously maintain this balance and coordinate with their utmost dedication and sincerity to successfully complete their ongoing semester. Testing times bring out the best of a person. Let us all strive to do our best in these difficult times, Students are advised to stay updated on all university announcements and notices put up on the official website and social media platforms.
